When designing a competition mat for the best archers in the world a mat needs to do three things. It has to stop hundreds of arrows that are shot into the same spot, it has to hold those arrows for accurate scoring time after time and it has to be uni-directional, meaning it cannot "kick" the arrow and will hold it straight. The 152C was designed with all of these things in mind, in fact it does all of this and is still lightweight, weighing as much as half of other mats, it has the advantage of having a replaceable center core that is offered in two thickness. This design is so superior that it was chosen as the target mat for the 2000 Sydney Olympics over every other mat in the world. The bonded laminations hold the arrow securely exactly where it landed for accurate scoring, and will withstand hundreds of shots in the same spot. It has to when being used by the best archers in the world! The replaceable 24" core is available in 8" or in a heavy duty 12" thickness for maximum life.

The AR-152 offers the same features as the original 152c with even more. The center 12" is our new Velocicore. This center core covers the gold, where the most wear and tear is. Arrow removal is easy and the the center will out last standard foam ten shots to one. We also offer 24 inch foam cores with 12" velocicore centers for upgrading your current 152c. 

The redesigned AR-172 FITA mat uses two wafers of high density foam with wound elastic threads between them. We call this Velocicore.  The Velocicore offers even more life with reasonable arrow removal, even with the fastest, smallest carbon arrow. The arrows energy is absorbed almost immediately resulting in very little penetration. The 172c comes standard with a 24" diameter Velocicore.

Velocicores were used at the 2004 US Olympic Trials held in Ohio and at the 2004 Canadian Championships held in Toronto to rave reviews and without a failure!
